Speakers:
Crystal Riley, PharmD, MHA, MBA, is an awarded and published clinical pharmacist and government affairs professional with extensive experience in healthcare delivery, policy, and legislation. She currently serves as Director, Federal Government Affairs for AbbVie, where she engages with Congressional members and staff on AbbVie’s intellectual property, antitrust, regulatory, and AI legislative portfolios. Throughout her career, she has worked on a range of issues including clinical determinations, healthcare reimbursement, delivery and payment systems, patient safety, healthcare disparities, and information technology.
Dr. Riley earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from Howard University in Washington, DC, a dual MHA/MBA through the University of Maryland and holds multiple professional certifications.
In addition to her day job, Dr. Riley is a clinical and policy adjunct professor for Master’s level students at Grand Canyon University and NYU Wagner, respectively; serves as the legislative committee chair for the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America Board of Directors and is an active member of the Prince George’s County Medical Reserve Corps. She is also the founder of Wellness & Woo, a coaching and wellness service that helps people reduce stress on and move intentionally towards achieving the goals that they have set for themselves.
Dr. Riley is also an avid tennis player, an enthusiastic golfer, lover of Formula 1 racing, and prides herself on maintaining an open inbox policy for anyone interested in healthcare, government, wellness, and goal achievement.
Sudan Cory Gordon, PharmD, was born in New Jersey, raised in Virginia Beach, and currently lives in the South Mountain area of Phoenix after fifteen years in Washington, DC. Dr. Gordon has dedicated more than half of his life to deepening his understanding of medication efficacy, safety, and pharmacy practice. He is a committed pharmacy leader with over fifteen years of experience providing exceptional healthcare services in various unique pharmacy roles. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Doctoral degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Howard University. He started as a pharmacy sales associate in community pharmacy and is now in Mail Order Pharmacy Operations with PillPack (having joined the team in November 2018), which launched Amazon’s first pharmacy venture in 2020.
Dr. Gordon worked as a clerk/cashier at CVS/Pharmacy through his undergraduate studies and became a pharmacy technician after graduating in 2008. He also worked full time at Grubbs CARE Pharmacy, the oldest pharmacy in DC, established in 1867. It was there that he was introduced to independent pharmacy and compounding. As a pharmacy student, he began interning with CVS/Pharmacy and was actively involved in various pharmacy organizations, including holding leadership positions with APhA-ASP, NCPA, SNPhA, Phi Lambda Sigma, and Kappa Psi. He continued pursuing his interest in compounding by completing an introductory and advanced compounding certification with the Professional Compounding Centers of America (PCCA) before graduating in 2014.
As a pharmacist, Dr. Gordon worked for Village Green Apothecary in Bethesda, MD while developing his own independent pharmacy. Green Pharmacy launched in the summer of 2017 as an independent community pharmacy focused on providing both excellent customer service and positive healthcare outcomes for all. Despite the pharmacy’s initial success, he made the difficult decision to leave the business in pursuit of something bigger in the desert. At Amazon, Dr. Gordon has served in Fulfillment, Health Equity, Learning & Development, and Pharmacy Automation. He established the Mail Order Rotation Student Program and is the Rotation Site Lead for the Experiential Education team at Amazon Pharmacy in Arizona. He has obtained professional certifications from ASHP in Pharmacy Revenue Cycle Management and Teaching for Pharmacists. He is a member of the Arizona Pharmacy Association Legislative Committee, NPhA Legislative & Regulatory Affairs Committee Chair, and a SNPhA PSMP mentor.
Monét Stanford, PharmD, serves as Director of Access & Reimbursement Policy at the Alliance for Regenerative Medicine. Dr. Stanford leads ARM’s policy and government relations objectives to help expand the use of transformative cell and gene therapies. Prior to, she advocated for patient access by serving as Director of Policy at the Association for Accessible Medicines. There she collaborated with leadership to respond to key policy issues affecting generic and biosimilars.
Additionally, Dr. Stanford managed government relations and regulatory affairs for Kaiser Permanente by delivering pharmacy-based expertise during the pre-enactment evaluation of legislation and regulation; provided senior leadership with budget forecast projections in response to passed proposals; and served as the primary external contact for pharmacy issues. Dr. Stanford consistently develops and manages research opportunities and writes testimony, public comments, policy papers, opinion editorials and other materials in support of those positions.
Aside from her primary roles, Dr. Stanford has participated in leadership programs at the London School of Economics and the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business. She has held positions such as Finance Director for the Society of Health Policy Young Professionals and served on an editorial board for the American Pharmacists Association. Dr. Stanford holds a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and a Bachelor of Arts in Health Policy and Administration from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She completed her clinical residency training at Purdue University and formal government relations training at the National Association for Chain Drug Stores.
