NPhA Monkeypox Q&A Session with CDC

Thursday, August 25th | 7:00 - 8:00 pm EDT

Registration for this webinar is free

Join representatives from NPhA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for this special informational session. Participants will receive the latest information about the U.S. monkeypox outbreak and the National Monkeypox Vaccine Strategy. A subject matter expert from the CDC will be on hand to answer your questions and sharing updates on what pharmacists can do to be prepared to respond to the challenges presented by the current outbreak. Be sure to bring your questions and comments for an interactive discussion.

NPhA President Frank North will provide an introduction, and the session will be moderated by NPhA Clinical Initiatives Coordinator Dr. Jacqueise Unonu.

The CDC will be represented by Dr. John T. Brooks, the Chief Medical Officer to the CDC’s Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention, where he coordinates the division’s activities related to the new national “Ending the HIV Epidemic” initiative. His primary area of expertise is prevention and treatment of HIV infection. He is presently also serving as the Chief Medical Officer for the CDC’s Multinational Monkeypox Outbreak Response.

Dr. Brooks has led teams during CDC emergency responses to anthrax, SARS, Ebola, Zika, HIV and hepatitis C outbreaks among people who inject drugs, and was Chief Medical Officer for the COVID-19 Emergency Response. Dr. Brooks came to CDC as an EIS officer in 1998 after completing medical school, residency in internal medicine, and a fellowship in infectious diseases through Harvard Medical School.

Important Note: This webinar will be conducted using the Zoom platform. Your confirmation email will include instructions for accessing the webinar.
