Title: Safe Spaces: Pharmacist-Led HIV Stigma Reduction & Harm Reduction Models

UAN: 0215-0000-25-048-L02-P

Type of Activity: Knowledge-based

Description: Pharmacists have the most contact with patients and create judgment-free spaces to bridge individuals to HIV prevention and care. This session explores how stigma impacts access to essential services, especially among people who use drugs and other marginalized populations. Participants will examine practical methods to challenge stigma and foster inclusive pharmacy environments. The session will also highlight harm reduction as a compassionate, person-centered framework that empowers patients to engage in HIV prevention and care on their own terms. Attendees will leave equipped with tools and strategies to embed stigma-reduction and harm-reduction principles into everyday pharmacy workflows.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain evidence-based stigma-reduction strategies (e.g., contact interventions, peer storytelling) applicable in pharmacy practice.
  • Illustrate core harm-reduction principles and how they support people who use drugs in HIV prevention and care.
  • Propose actionable interventions to integrate stigma-reduction and harm-reduction resources into everyday pharmacy workflows.

    Target Audience: Pharmacists, Pharmacy Students
